Hi! I’m in the phase of learning bonsai where I feel like keeping plants alive is a victory and improving my botanical education seems like a very important step in the process. So I was wonderin: Where did you gain your botanical understanding? where does one start? Is there a book you would recommend? A course? A teacher? YouTube videos? is there a certain level of education to aim for? Is there such a thing as getting too “in the weeds“ when it comes to botany and bonsai for beginners? I’d love to know your thoughts and experiences along this path.

I recently came across a few different takes on creating a bonsai care calendar and thought a localized version could be a great resource, especially for beginners like me. I'm fairly new to bonsai and looking to understand the process from growing trees from seeds to pre-bonsai and on to bonsai plus whatever I am missing in those steps. I'm fairly visual, so a chart or infographic would be awesome, but I'd love to see the information in any form.
