I decided to try this with some Tartarian maple seedlings I started. The seeds were collected in fall of 2018. I put them in a pot with garden soil and left them outside overwinter. They sprouted in the spring of 2019. For the winter of 2019/2020 I put them in a bunker.
There are 8 seedlings. Four of decent size and 4 much smaller. I bound them all as described in the video.
On 3/20/2020 I brought them indoors to let the root mass unfreeze and/or warm up. By 3/24/2020 the buds were swelling. I bound them into a clump starter. I root pruned cutting off the tap root and some of the single roots higher on the trunk.
I potted them in an equal mix of akadama, pumice, lava, and soil pep and placed them indoors on a heat mat under lights.
