He will also examine conflicting recommendations from renowned bonsai artists in the U.S. and Europe, testing these ideas through the lens of science.

In addition, Darrell will discuss the importance of taking a long-term view of bonsai cultivation, especially when overwintering trees in Colorado's unpredictable climate. Understanding the impact of 10-year and even 100-year weather events has significantly influenced his own approach to bonsai care.
