About the event

The Rocky Mountain Bonsai Society’s “Beginning Bonsai” classes provide an excellent opportunity for club members who are early in their practice of bonsai to learn more about this living artform.  Classes will include such topics as the history of bonsai, characteristics to look for when selecting pre-bonsai, styling a bonsai tree, bonsai horticulture and health management, soil composition, pest control, exhibiting your tree, bonsai tool selection and maintenance, and more.

Each registrant will receive a healthy juniper tree (Juniperus procumbens) with good styling opportunities, a pair of bonsai scissors, a copy of Harry Tomlinson’s well-known book, Bonsai: 101 Essential Tips, and 9 hours of lecture/discussion, including generous one-on-one instruction time with a senior member of RMBS.  In order to provide this level of individual instruction, the class is limited to 12 participants.  Tuition for all three sessions is $50 per person.  This includes a 20% discount off the full cost of…
